Well I am having a little dilemma. I am a freshman in high school, and last year (middle school) I took French I as an elective. I passed the class and received the high school credit. However, this year, I wasn't able to take French II, and I am planning on taking it next year, but I have forgotten a lot about French I. My French I teacher in middle school was not the best either. I feel like I will do poorly if I take French II, do you guys think I should retake French I? If I do, what would colleges think?

Depends…what grade did you receive in French 1? At my school, there is a LOT of review in the beginning of any foreign language class, because it’s not unusual for kids to not take them consecutively. I mean, the entire first unit of my online Spanish 2 class was from Spanish 1 (there were only 4 units too). Plus, French is a common foreign language to take in high school, and you’ll be able to find a lot of books for beginners.

I received a ‘B’, but my teacher wasn’t exactly the best.

My brother took Spanish I in middle school and got B or a C because of the teacher. It might sound cliche but it’s a long story message me if you want to know. Anyway, so my brother took it again in his Freshman year. There’s nothing wrong with it. He used it as a refresher so he can take Spanish II and III. I wouldn’t think colleges would care, colleges like improvement. So go ahead :)

I took Spanish 1 in 8th grade and offered to take Spanish 2 as a freshman. I was intimidated because I got a B in sp1, but ended up getting a 98% overall in Sp2 and am now in Sp3. Go for it!
