Should I take geo/trig in the summer?

I've always been in high math but this year I came to a new school and they pushed most of the freshman back to Algebra, which we already took. They said that if we wanted to advance into math analysis next year we should take geo/trig in the summer. The only thing is that the course costs around $300 and if you don't pass the final with a 90 or above, then you cannot go on.
I'm not sure if I should spend the money to advance, if I might not be allowed. If it helps, this year I've had a 98/99 average in Algebra.
What should I do?! (Any comments are appreciated)

Take Geo only. Do not take trig. You should have Algebra 2 before you do trig and analytic trig. It’s best not to take it all at once because you will develop the kind of reasoning needed for math analysis (the “trig” class) during geometry, and if you can have that be in your head for a year, it will be easier when you get to math anal.

Thank you. But what if I’m not allowed to take math analysis next year because I didn’t take trig along with geo?

Er…maybe they do it differently at your school, but this our math sequence:

Geometry
Alg 2
Math Analysis (the honors version is equivalent to IB Math HL 1)
Calculus

Math Analysis according to the IB curriculum includes trigonometry. You learn basic trig in geometry.

At my school its:
Algebra or Combined Algebra
Geo or Geo/Trig
Math Analysis
Algebra II/Trig
AP Calculus
And so on…
What I want to do is finish Algebra this year for the second time, and then tackle Geo/Trig in the Summer. So then sophomore year, I’ll take Math Analysis and the summer that follows I’ll take Algebra II/Trig.
Then, by Junior year I’ll be in AP Calculus and by senior year I’ll be way ahead of the people at my school. (There are only around two people that have the same game plan as me)

Uh, definitely take Geo and get it over with. You should be able to get a 90 on the final. If your results while taking the course portend trouble, study extra before the final.

As for Trig… I’d say take it if you can take both. It’s a nice thing to get out of the way and it’s convenient to have all of that stuff down cold, even without getting credit for it. It’s not that difficult once you get down the general concepts.

That’s true. And it’ll be summer so I can focus more. Thank you! Do you guys also have any suggestions for summer programs I can take for allied health or science classes?
