Should I take it again

I got a 2250 on the first new SAT (790m,790cr,670w) I was considering taking it again to improve the writing score but since colleges aren;t sure what to do about it yet I'm not sure. While I believe it is unfair that minorities get in with a lower criteria will being african american make any difference? I am aiming for the Ivies, stanford, Duke, USC, UCB

holy crap... def. take it again ;) try to beat 700 in writing and your set

A 2250 is definately an excellent score and with affirmative action (regardless of whether you agree with it or not), your URM status will help you during the admissions process. As for retaking, I agree with what you said about the writing being not as important this year. The decision to retake really comes down to whether you want to spend another $40, whether you think you can raise your writing score to the level of your other two scores and whether you think putting in the extra time is worth it. I don't really think it will make a major difference - the SAT Writing is new and a 2250 is an competitive score for the Ivies.

At most of the schools you mentioned, the general consensus is that your SAT score can keep you out (doesn't apply to you) but it alone will not get you in, so if I were you, I would focus on other parts of my application instead of retaking the SAT

I was so happy with the first two sections at first that i didn't think the writing mattered. I heard schools aren't sure what to do with it. Is it true that schools are looking at the verbal and critical reading as parallel and writing as something completely new? If so wouldn't that make my score a 1580 in old terms? I'm so confused but I really don't want to take the time to study for it again because I will have 5 APs this year. As long as it is competative I think my grades and EC's will help with the rest.

sew trust me you are above expectations. You got a 1580. Just say that. Your set. Besides a combined 2250 is amazing

Thanks. I think I'm just over thinking it. I don;t think anyone would look at my score and reject me because of it. thrills have you taken it yet?

My suggestion is to retake it and study hard for writing because it is the easiest section out of all 3 (in less you read or day or do math problems all day :P). Everything in it is repetitive so it wont be hard for you go get 750+ on it and if you focus and work hard even 800 on the other 2 sections = 2350

Haha :) I just responded to a comment you made on another person's post.

yea i've taken it, 2100

are you gonna retake it?
