I got a 32 on the ACT which I'm (mildly) satisfied with but I'm applying to some TOUGH schools. Now that I'm good with my SAT II's, I was thinking about taking SAT I in December for the first time (and of course, final time). I'm obviously going to take some practice tests and see how I do, not walk in blind, but if I do well, is it worth taking it at this point? Is it much harder than the ACT? What are the major differences? Is it incredibly unlikely I can get a 2200+ if only got a 32 on the ACT? I got a 35 English, 33 Reading, 32 Math, 29 Science, 9 Writing if that makes any difference.

not worth it

why: most of the people i know get MUCH higher scores on the ACT than the SAT (eg. 2000ish and 34/35's). while there are, of course, exceptions to this trend, i doubt you're going to get 2200+ with a few months' prep.

personally, i find the ACT much easier; i got high 2100's with a summer of prep, while i got a 33 walking in cold. i would actually recommend retaking that ACT...if it isnt too late

Yeah I could see that. Any other opinions from the SAT experts? BUMPPPP

I agree with anotherasian1234.

^but isn't the ACT math harder than SAT math?

Also, I noted the breakdown to show that science is easily my weakest section. The SAT has no science section so I would think that would possibly work to my advantage?

^ but the science is actually easy because it doesn't really test biology or chemistry or any of that stuff..its just basically reading off charts and everything...and writing section i hear is optional..the only thing that i'm worried about is math..i saw the questions and found them to be a bit more difficult than that of the SAT.

Science is "easy" because you are just looking at charts, graphs, etc but 40 questions in 35 minutes can be overwhelming for some people and seems to get me, I don't know, I'm not a math/science person.

Blah... no more opinions?

Take it if you want. If we tell you to take it, will it affect your choice? Because there have been many people saying to not take it, and it seems that you are already set on doing it.

Take it if you want. But its not worth it to spend too much time on it or anything. If you wanna walk in cold that Saturday, then that is fine. But if your gonna spend hours every week on it, then its better to other things.

Go ahead and take it; it can't hurt.

If he spends time studying for it, it will hurt him in other areas. If he doesn't then there is no point in taking it because he most likely will not do any better on it than the ACT.
