Should I take Pre-Cal or Stats?

I've considered myself pretty good at math until I met Algebra II this year. I've been making straight C's (All 3 grading periods this semester have been 80s), and I'm just failing to understand it all (well, all of the radical crap is getting me). Next year I'll be a junior, so should I take Pre-Cal or Stats/Algebra III? I would like to be prepared for college and stuff, but I also don't want to end up not getting in since I have a 2.5. I know Calculus would be best for me if I plan on going into engineering, but, like I said, I don't want to figure out that I don't like it and suck at it at the cost of destroying my GPA.

Also, for reference, here are the majors I'm looking at.
-Mechanical Engineering
-Journalism
-BBA
-Accounting
-Psychology
-Music Ed. (Not too sure about this one, though)

And my GPA right now is around 3.1, with me taking all honors classes in my 2 years (and Advanced Honors English both years).

what colleges are you shooting for?

just do what's best for your GPA, you can always take Calc in college.

although i rarely hear of anyone graduating HS without at least taking Pre-Calc.

I'm a junior and I'm taking both. I think Stats is a solid class as a supplement to your normal math class, but not as a substitute for precalc or calc.

Whatever you want, I'm in precalc and I find it totally useless.

Precal. All my friends say stats is where fun goes to die.

DP

At my school, it's AP Stat that's a joke and Precal is harder.

Isn't there a grade prerequisite for either of those classes at your school? If you're getting a C in Algebra II, I doubt you'd do well in Precal.

Might as well go for precalc. I got low Bs in Alg II and straight A's in Precalc and Calculus. Something just clicked, I guess. Probably because I was so enthusiastic about precalc and was bored of doing the same algebra for several years.

Pre Calc. A lot of colleges require you to take Calculus so you'll be more prepared. You'll have to take pre-calc eventually to get to calc

Take Precalculus. It's pretty much a necessary stepping stone for calculus, which you'll need especially if you're going into engineering. Stats is a good course but is fairly simple and also is not really a prerequisite for anything you'll need.

Take Pre-Calc, but maybe since you're already having difficulty in math, take a non-honors class instead. It would look better than not taking Pre-Calc at all.

PreCalc; I agree w/ajwichin.

Yeah, but I find precalc 90% review from algebra last year.....

Yea I agree. I took Pre-Cal my junior year and it was pretty easy...it was basically algebra 2 again, but more in depth. I took AP Stat for the first week of my senior year and transfered out because it had to much to do with graphing and interpreting...which i dislike doing when it comes to math.
