Should I take Regular Chemistry or Honors Chemistry?

I am a Sophmore in High School. Last year I was a Freshman in High School and all my classes were either Honors or AP. This year I have a lot of math heavy classes and classes that involve a lot of reading. Therefore I thought that Honors Chemistry would stress me out. Although when I am a Senior I do plan on taking AP Chemistry. (I want to be a Pharmacist) That’s why I was thinking I should start with Honors Chemistry, but I’m not sure. Regular Chemistry is still pretty hard at my school. It used to be a weighted class because of the difficulty. If I don’t take Honors Chemistry will this effect my college application. I really want to try to get into an Ivy League College! Also, I made straight A’s Freshmen year.

Honors chem is a good idea, and it will look better on your transcript. It may seem hard, but since you’re already taking math heavy classes, it won’t feel as difficult. You’ll cover some of the same ideas, at least mathematically, in several classes. It’s essential if you want AP chem. Good luck!

If you’re going for pharma, I’d go with honors chem, and consider reducing load in another area if you think about it wisely and realize you’ll be overwhelmed.
