Okay so I recently found out that I wasn’t matched to a school through the Questbridge national college match and I’m wondering if my score could be the reason. Because I was a finalist, I still plan on applying to some of their partner schools through regular decision. These schools include my top choice University of Southern California. My highest SAT score was 1950 (I suck at testing) however my UGPA is 3.81 and WGPA is 4.42. Should I take the SAT again this Saturday and try to get a higher score? It would be a last minute decision and I’m honestly not sure I would do any better but it may be worth it to give it a shot…please help!!!
Your GPA is average for accepted students and your SAT, as you know, is below. With a 17% acceptance rate you really need to be more competitive. Take the SAT again. Why haven’t you tried the ACT? My son did much better with that test.
I tried the ACT and did pretty much the equivalent. I wasn’t planning on taking the sat again so I haven’t done any prep, therefore my score probably wouldn’t go up. I think I’m gonna have to accept my SAT score. Hopefully my ECs and essays will help.
I think it’s worth taking another shot at the SAT. USC puts a bit more weight on standardized test scores. This is the outcome when a lot of students come from top competitive prep schools like harvard-westlake. They need to measure you up against students whose 3.3 GPAs would equal a 4.0 at an unranked public high school. The easiest way to do this is through your SAT or ACT score.
