Most of the colleges I’m applying to recommend taking the SAT II subject tests, but should I still take them if I took the ACT’s and got a 34 on it?
Yes?
Some colleges and universities will accept the ACT with writing in lieu of the SAT subject tests and some will not. If your target schools require or strongly recommend the SAT subject tests, you should take them.
Here’s a list:

Alternative viewpoint: My son applied to Northwestern, where SAT 2s are “recommended not required”, but he called the Admissions Dept about them (he didn’t want to take any more tests!) and was told that the SAT 2s are for students that would like to show strength in an area that is not reflected in their grades and/or AP Tests. My son had a 4.0 GPA and all 5s on AP tests so he did NOT take any SAT2 tests and was admitted ED.
Take them, because certain colleges that you might think of applying to will require them, especially if you’re looking at selective schools like the Ivy League.
@nugraddad that’s a really good point
