Should I take SAT Math Level I before SAT Math Level II?

Is it necessary or going to help me if I take Level I before Level II? I'm a rising senior and I have never taken any Subject Tests before. And, I don't have much time left, only October and November because I'm also taking the SAT one more time. Is December really too late to do anything? (I'm doing everything regular, no early action or early decision.)

No, it is not. Choose the SAT II based on how much math you have completed. My son only took Level 2 but he was enrolled in Calc 2 at the time and had very strong Math skills. Check the college board web site, they give a summary of what is covered on each test. Good Luck!

Colleges that require SAT subject tests usually require that they be in different subjects, meaning if you submit both math 1 and math 2 that will count as only one of the required SATs. In other words, it is essentially a waste to take both. Moreover, math 1 is really not something you take to prepare for math 2. Generally if you have had through pre-calculus and have done well you may attempt the math 2. If you have not finished the pre-calc stage, you should probaby take the math 1. Ultimately, it just your choice unless you are intending to apply to the UCs, which do accept the math 1, or Stanford, which recommends math 2 if you submit a math.

For regular admission, you can submit tests through the Dec test date and for a number of schools even through the Jan test date; exception is the Cal Poly’s which want tests completed by Nov (but they do not require any SAT subject tests).

Why take two? Just take Math level 2.

Math II is more impressive, and the curve is ridiculous, so it’s relatively easy to get a high score. If you’ve taken precal, do math II. I used Barron’s (and threw it across my room at one point. it’s almost too hard to be helpful. My highest practice test score was like a 630 and I got a 780 on the real test. but it’s good for conceptual help.) and Princeton Review books for practice because it’s been a couple years since I took precal.

/rant.
but yeah, go with Math II.

Take Math IIC if you already learned Alg2/Trig and a little pre-calc. If you haven’t, don’t take any SAT II Math until you do so. Math IC isn’t worth it.

Surely not a wise decision!
