Hi,
I want to apply to Yale SCEA. If deferred or rejected, I may apply to Duke, Brown, Columbia, UPenn and a safety school.
Are SAT Subject tests mandatory for Yale or any of the other colleges mentioned above? If yes, then, how many should I take? Or should I take ACT instead?
Thank you
This information can be found on each school’s website.
I checked Yale’s website and other sites. It said that subject tests were not mandatory, but recommended. If so, should I take it even though I might score above 1560 in regular SAT.
In my mind, recommended means you should take them unless doing so will pose a financial burden. JMO.
OK thank you. There is no financial burden, just a bit of confusion. Thanks anyways.
Given the selectivity of schools you are considering, I would say YES, you should take at least a couple in subject areas that make sense for your likely area of study.
I advise taking them at the end of the school year in subjects you took during the year (while the info is fresh).
While you are doing applications, you may decide last minute to add a school that requires them. Better to have them available, and to have taken them when the subject matter was fresh.
Yes, you need them for those schools. Find out which ones you are likely to do best on and get prep books, such as Barrons and Princeton Review and study.
