i've already taken them once, didnt do great (730 lit was good but 570 math was not... i didnt pace myself and ran out of time, omitted like 8 questions). anyways, i'm applying to emory ED. they don't require SATIIs anyway (the admissions officer said tehy "can help you if you did well but if you didn't we disregard them"--dont know how true this is though.. is anything ever relaly "disregarded" in the college admiss. process?), and the ED deadline is Nov. 1st. so since i wouldnt be taking the satIIs until november 7, they wouldnt be sent to the school until early december! so will they even accept them/look at them?? should i not bother taking them? (its not like i want to take the things)

please help! i want to celebrate about never having to take sats again!!!
(p.s. my math satI score was much higher than a 570, so that may help them get over the bad II score?)

i don't think you should worry, they know SAT II math means nothing, an 800 in that doesn't mean one will succeed in college math and a 400 won't mean someone will do poorly in college math.
i wouldn't worry about it if i were you*
*assuming you did well in high school math
if you didn't, then you should take it again and get 700+ to show them that you know some stuff

I disagree with Newbyreborn. It's incredibly easy to get an 800 in Math IIc, and only a bit more difficult for Math Ic. The curve is just so huge (You can miss something like 7 and still get an 800).

So yeah, if you got an 800, it doesn't say much about your skill with math, but if you got something like a 400, it definitely says your mathematical reasoning skills are subpar.

what about a 570 (keeping in mind that i've gotten b's and some a's [c freshman year.. oops.. but that never happened again] in honors math, and i got a 650 in math on my actual sats)... will that say i'm subpar?

(it was math 1c by the way)

*also, do you know if emory will even look at the scores if i do take it, since the deadline for ED is november 1st and they wont get the scores til a month later?

p.s. math is not my forte anyway... i'm planning on majoring in english w/ a creative writing focus

Heh, you're just a bit above average. So I guess technically, no, you're not subpar. The fact that you're not a math person and have maintained decent math grades will help, not to mention the curve on the Ic is smaller than the curve on the IIc.

I'd say don't bother unless you really want to. Isn't it about time to be done with that stuff to enjoy senior year? On the other hand, something like math doesn't require much prep work if any so I guess you could try it again without stressing too much if you really wanted to.
