Should I take Spanish for the elite colleges?

As I have researched, most Ivy League/Top 20 colleges recommend that you take 3-4 foreign language courses. I plan to take only 2 Spanish courses because I would rather take AP Science courses over language courses. I am also ranked in the top 4 of my class and would like to become a doctor/teacher/guidance counselor. Is it necessary for me to take Spanish for 3-4 years, or will colleges, particularly Duke and Yale, frown at noticing only two Spanish courses on my transcript?

Top schools will be expecting you to take 4 years of another language. Also, Spanish will be very useful for you in the professions that you have expressed an interest in. Can’t you take both an AP science and a language class?
