I am currently attending CCC and going to apply to UC this fall.
So I am going to apply for Business Econ / Econ, and many UCs have statistics requirement.
However, according to assist, no course is articulated for stats & assist says I have to take Stats in UC. (ex. Berkeley, Irvine, etc.)
So even though I take Stat course in CCC, the credit will not be transferred to UC.
However, I am not sure whether taking Statistics help me to become more competitive applicant or not. (Is it looking better on transcript & application?)
Should I take it or not?? (btw If I take Stats I have to take it in Summer, and I already have a 5 quarter unit class to take in Summer so my Summer can be little tough if I take Stats. But I will take it if it helps me to become better applicant.)
oops my mistake, the credit will still be transferred to UC since it is UC transferrable course, but UC will not consider that course as their major prereq.
Depends. How many pre reqs will you have or will be missing if you don’t take statistics? I took statistics last fall and passed with a B and will be applying this fall as well (don’t want to toot my own horn, but I could’ve gotten an A if I didn’t slack off during the last exam lol). All recommended pre reqs listed on assist will help you become competitive. Take it if you have room in your schedule, otherwise you’re going to have to take statistics at the UC which might be harder considering a 10 week quarter system (semester if berkeley or merced) statistics was all formulas so you have to memorize a lot.
I will finish all the prereqs by fall except that not-articulated course(which is Statistics). If Stats course is articulated, of course I will take it this Summer, but it is not articulated & Assist says I have to take it in UC… So whatever I do(take Stats in CCC or not), I will have to take Stats course in UC after I transfer. But I am not sure whether taking Stats will help me to become a competitive applicant or not… Hmm
Taking the statistics course will make you a competitive applicant for UCB, definitely. For UCI, it will help, and if your GPA is higher than a 3.5 for business economics, you still have good chances to be admitted even without that one pre req, that is statistics. Some colleges will say not articulated because that certain college doesn’t have that class. Perhaps look at other CCCs belonging to the same branch as your home CC?
Taking stats is just like any other recommended pre req, taking more will make you more competitive.
Take stats at another local CC. I think that is what helped me get in to schools and I have same major as you. Taking stats will make you more competitive without a doubt for econ.
