Hey guys and gals,
So I’m arguing with my parents whether or not I should take the ACT.
They believe that I should take the ACT because some schools prefer ACT over SAT (which I think is total BS).
I think that I should spend the prep time somewhere else, like on my AP Exams, school finals, and SAT Subject tests, because I have already received a 2350 on the SAT. From all the conversion tables that I have scoured, the only way I could better this SAT score would be to earn a perfect score on the ACT. So my argument is that its a waste of time to study in hopes of a perfect score.
What do y’all think?
Just finished a week of tours and they all pointedly say that they have not preference between SAT and ACT with writing. These were east coast schools so it might be different elsewhere in the country but statistically the east coast schools still admit more with SAT than ACT so I’m not sure how they could prefer ACT.
Tell your parents to pick up the phone and call the schools directly. Better to hear directly from the schools what the schools prefer rather than go by what their friends and colleagues tell them.
To me, it seems like a complete waste of time to go for a perfect ACT score when you already have a practically perfect SAT score.
Call the schools directly.
No school prefers ACT over SAT; similarly, no school prefers SAT over ACT. If it were me with a 2350, I’d declare one and done; there’s a lot of other things that have to be done.
Do not retake. There is no need.
There’s definitely no need to take the ACT, your energy should go into your SAT subject tests! Schools really do not have a preference between the SAT and ACT, it is just an option to give students varying methods of taking a test since many prefer the layout of one compared to the other. Your SAT score is already amazing, no need to waste the energy on the ACT
