I was just wondering whether to take the ACT writing test. I've been hearing conflicting responses, with some people saying that it's not much of a priority when it comes to admissions and others saying that it's very important. I prefer not to take the SAT writing test because I'm pretty terrible in standardized writing tests, to the point where it could actually have a negative impact on my Composite ACT score. My parents tell me that I shouldn't take the writing section because I do terribly on the essay and I've already taken the SATs, which does have the writing section as well.

Do colleges put a high priority on the ACT writing score when it comes to admissions?

I've also heard that it depends on each college, so here's the list of colleges I'm planning to apply to as of right now:

Lehigh University
University of Rochester
University of Maryland-College Park
University of Maryland-Baltimore County
University of Pittsburgh
Boston University
Dickinson College
Purdue University
