I took the SAT for the first time and scored a 2120 (570 M, 750 W, 800 CR).

I'm not sure whether it would be in my best interest to focus on improving my math SAT score or to divide my efforts between SAT math and general ACT prep.

My observations have led me to believe that students with a large CR/M discrepancy, as you have do better on the ACT. Only 1/4 of the total score as opposed to 1/2 (most colleges don’t weigh the W section of SAT) for the SAT. In addition, even the Science section of the ACT is really a lot of reading comprehension. In addition, the Common Data Set, which all colleges are required to complete, breaks out the SAT CR & M into separate percentiles, but with the ACT they only report total score, thus a low score on one component doesn’t hurt the colleges “stats” as much as as low CR or M SAT score.

No. Reading the prompts is pointless. The Science section simply tests your ability to read charts, diagrams, and graphs. The text is irrelevant 95% of the time.
