Hey guys. I’m a rising senior and I got 2280 on the old SAT in a single sitting during junior year, with 780 in math, 780 in writing, and 720 in critical reading. Since I’m applying to some really competitive schools, my parents think I should take the ACT at the beginning of senior year. I know 2280 is pretty much equivalent to a 34 on the ACT, so is it worth it to take the ACT if I can get a 35 or 36? Apparently the ACT aligns more to my skills (math and science) than the SAT, so I think this could be achievable.

I wouldn’t bother. No school will bounce your app for a 2280.
Thanks
I think you’re good to go. It’s too late to register for September, and you don’t want to count on a one shot test in October.
Concentrate on those essays! If you are thinking about applying to a STEM major or college you have a high enough math score. Some highly selective colleges recommend SAT II tests (usually two) - have you taken those yet?
I think your score is great and wouldn’t retake. You are going to be very busy this year, esepcially with the “hidden class” of college essay writing. And your grades need to still be high. Focus on preparing great applications and great essays.
