I am a senior trying to decide on which ap exams I should take.

Government (political systems), Macroeconomics, European History, Literature

I am confident that I can do well in gov and euro but not really sure about econ and lit. I also feel like it is a burden to my parents financially if I take all four...which costs $268.

If I end up taking only the gov and euro exams, will that have a negative impact on me? For example, when colleges later request those scores after the admissions process has been complete, is there a possibility that they might reject me? And will ANYBODY look at it in a negative light if I only take two out of four?

I don’t think schools will reject you just because you didn’t take the AP test. The test itself is just for college credit, so they actually might prefer you don’t take any tests because it means more money for them. I think the most important factor is how well you did grade-wise in those courses. So, yeah, I think you’d be better off just choosing your strongest subjects.

I totally understand the money thing… At my school, you have to take the AP test if you enroll in the course, so, this year, I have to pay for four AP tests, at least one of which I’m probably going to get a 1 or a 2 on It sucks…

You’re a senior. You won’t know your scores until after you have been accepted and picked a school. And anyways, many top colleges nowadays barely give any AP credit. Don’t worry too much about it. No college is going to reject you for it. I’m not taking the AP Spanish test because of IB/AP testing conflicts, but it wouldn’t have helped me anyways since like none of the colleges I’m looking into would take credit for it unless I get a 5 which is raelly hard and I plan on continuing with spanish in college anyways. You really shouldn’t worry.
