Should I take the December ACT?

I’m applying to really competitive schools and plan on majoring in bioengineering. My gpa and extracurriculars are really strong but my sat is a 2140 (cr: 650 m:720 and w: 770). I’m much stronger in the maths and sciences so do you think I’d have time to take the December ACT before the January 1st deadline and see my scores (so I can decide whether or not to send them)??

anyone?

Yes, give the Dec ACT a shot. You should have your scores back in time. Good luck!

Depends on college. Most with Jan 1 app deadlines accept through the Dec ACT test for admisison (it can arrive after Jan 1) but some have earlier last test dates.

@HereToHelpYou thanks! I’m gonna take a practice test tomorrow and see how well I do. If I do well, I think I’ll just take it with no prep. If I don’t do, then I won’t take it because I’m afraid all the prepping will distract me from my college apps and result in them being sub-par. Thanks again!

@drusba Websites say act scores come out on Dec. 29th (with writing a bit later). So could I send my test scores on dec. 29th (2 days before the deadline)?

Select those school ahead of time. We didn’t and there was such a lag (bad luck on being scored in the last round) some schools bumped my D into the next admission cycle. But do try!

As to sending scores Dec 29, if you take the writing section of the ACT, ACT will send no scores until the writing score is determined. It is possible your writing score will be released at the same time as your section scores but many often do not get them until after section scores are released.
