I want to take Math 114 (Calc 1) my freshman year even if I passed the recent AP Calc AB Exam with a 3 or higher. I passed the ELM and it suggests I register for Math 191, 194 and STA 120. Will I still be able to register for Math 114 if I pass the AP exam with a 3+ without taking the MDPT? Or should I take the MDPT regardless? I’m very unsure of how this whole process works, can someone help me out?
Thanks!

Take the test. I didn’t so I had to waste my time in MAT 105 and 106. I’m not sure if your AP test will allow you to go directly to 114 so I would sign up anyways.

Take the test just in case if it’s offered close by to you. It’s only a one or two hour trig test. I don’t know the exact requirements but with a 3 on the AP AB test you may be able to skip MAT 114 (which is only differentiation) and go to MAT 115 (integration).

Thanks! I actually took the test last Saturday but have yet to receive my score. The proctor told me it would be available on Bronco Direct on Tuesday and now its Wednesday…Has anyone gotten their scores yet?

Finding your test scores on Broncodirect isn’t very straightforward (at least not last year). To do it go to Broncodirect > Student self services > additional services > view my test summary > view all (it’s a tiny little option above whatever tests are shown here). BroncoDirect will not alert you in any way when your scores are updated. Now look around for the MDPT scores that count for class exemption. [Welcome to the Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics | Cal Poly Pomona](http://www.csupomona.edu/~math/results.html) shows you what scores you need. You want to be in the lower right corner of the table. If your scores indicate you only need MAT 114/130 you are now exempt from taking any math classes lower than calculus

Thanks Frenchie. That worked.
