Should I take the October SATI?

First, I posted this in "SAT and ACT Tests & Test Preparation" too.

I have a few more days yet until the late-registration deadline for the October SAT. My question is: should I take the SAT I or the SAT IIs?

I'm applying RD to the places that require the subject tests (Carnegie Mellon & Princeton), so I technically have three more months (aka 3 test dates) to fulfill all the required testing. I've taken the SATI once and scored a 2200. I want to take the SATI again and see if I can raise my score (2300+), and I still have to take the SATIIs. I've decided to take the Literature and MathII subject tests, and I have to study a lot for the MathII still.

So here are my options
(Oct, Nov, Dec):

(SATII, SATI, SATII) benefits> Time to see if I should even take the SATI in November, because by the time November comes around, I'll know my second ACT score (first was a 33). Time between SATIIs so I can evaluate my score and see what I did wrong.

(SATI, SATII, SATII) benefits> More time to study for the initial SATII test. I'm required by Carnegie to send all SAT tests I take, so this strategy might help me avoid lower subject test scores right off the bat.

What do you think I should do?
Thanks.

I think the SAT II tests should be your main focus right now because your SAT I is already decent. I would take the SAT II tests in November and the SAT I test in December (or October if you feel ready).
I don’t understand why you want to take the SAT II tests twice though (unless you receive a horrible score the first time). I don’t think they do QAS for SAT II, so you won’t be able to evaluate your scores anyway.

Good luck!

Okay, thanks!
I guess I was just assuming it would be better to take the SAT II twice, but I like your reasoning. If I take more time to study for the SAT IIs in November, then I’ll come out with a better score, anyway.

I know I can study and do well on the Math II test, but I’m just worried about Lit. I’ve heard it’s a killer at times.

What study books for Math II would you recommend? I have the SAT official study guide for All Subject Tests as well as Kaplan’s 2010-2011 Math II right now. Should I even bother getting Barron’s? I’ve heard it helps a lot, but Kaplan looks pretty thorough.
