I'm a junior and I've taken the SAT twice.
My scores were 2130 (CR-770 M-700 W-660) and 2170 (CR-730 M-800 W-640) adding to a super score of 2230.

I think I can probably get an 800 on the critical reading, I wasn't really trying the second time and I know with a lot of practice and maybe some tutoring I can bump up my writing.

So theoretically if I took it again and managed to bump up my score 30 to 70 points would it be worth it to a college?

If you’re trying to get into some education opportunities in college, why not try it again. There is no shame in trying more than 2 times. You should try bumping up your writing score and keep at pace with critical reading. You seem pretty freaking solid with math especially with the 800. #Imjealous #notreally

I wouldn’t stress out about it too much. Don’t go crazy with 3 hours of studying every day for the next month. Just study like 30-60 minutes a day and you should be able to make the improvement.

I wouldnt. Seeing as how your writing and reading score dropped and overall score only went up by 40, it just seems unnecessary and a waste of money. Focus on SAT II’s and ur gpa.

It depends on what schools you are going to apply. You do have a great score, particularly for those schools that do not weigh in writing. However, if you are aiming at those top schools that consider writing score also, you may want to work hard to improve your writing. What is your essay score?

If you’re looking to get into a ~top 30 university or a competitive program at a state school you probably want to get that score up above the 2300 cutoff, as well as get your writing over 700. It’s definitely possible if you study the grammar (be sure to brush up on verb tenses!)

^ there is no 2300 cutoff for top schools. My son was accepted to 6 top 30 schools with an ACT score of 30, which is less than an SAT of 2300. A score of 2300 may or may not improve one’s chances, especially if the school is looking for other attributes.

Thanks for all the input. I’m taking the subject tests in October so I’m probably not going to take them again. I’m only applying to a few top schools as reach schools so I think my scores will be fine for most of my schools.

That superscore isn’t bad you know, if you can> retake it, if you can’t don’t sweat it. Colleges look at things other than SAT scores, there are subject tests, Essays, ECs, Letter of Recs. Work on those as well. And don’t listen to people tell you to write many times, Colleges frown if you write more than 4 times (including subject tests) because they expect you to do things with your saturdays other than taking SATs and that puts you at a disadvantage with someone who took just once and got your score.

^ ZoraSingh,
Don’t try to steal a thread. Post your own. But I would say you should not retake as you are not making much improvement even in the last 2 retakes. Taking the test too many times would hurt your chance particularly you are not making much improvement.

Im sorry,I didnt intend to steal the thread, just thought that there was no point starting a new thread for the same purpose.I have one retake,I gave down a break of my section by section superscore after that.
