Should I take the SAT again?

I've taken the SAT once and the ACT twice. My scores are as follows:

SAT
CR: 630
M: 680
W: 780 with 8 essay
Composite: 2090

ACT (first time)
E: 35
M: 35
R: 29
S: 32
E/W: 31 with 8 essay
Composite: 33

ACT (second time)
E: 31
M: 36
R: 31
S: 32
E/W: 29 with 8 essay
Composite: 33

I'm pretty sure that my ACT scores are as good as they're going to get (except maybe the essay). Is there any point in re-taking the SAT to try to get a higher score? I know most colleges take both, but I feel like the SAT would be preferred. Any input/advice is much appreciated. :)

Generally, I would retake the SAT. You can’t really improve your Writing score much, but it’ll be superscored if you do better on the other two sections, even if you get a lower Writing score.

The ACT isn’t superscored. A 33 is fine, too.

Depends on what schools you’re aiming for! Look up their information (middle 50% SAT scores, etc) on College Board. However, I think your ACT score is good enough so that it wouldn’t make or break an admissions decision, so if you submit that, you’ll be fine.

Why would you feel that colleges would prefer the SAT to the ACT? That is the prevailing assumption of many Eastern and Southeastern high schools (I don’t know if you live in that region), but almost all colleges, including the highly selective ones on the East Coast, look at them equally. In other words, you would not even have to submit your SAT. You could submit your ACT (or your ACT and 2SAT subject tests but not the SAT I; many of the selective schools recommend SAT Subject Tests–most don’t require them, but many recommend them). Looking at your ACT and SAT scores, you seem to be the type of person who excels at the ACT. You might want to try it once more (you often hear that scores go up with 3 tries but not usually after 3). Also, MANY colleges superscore the ACT, including many of the selective schools–and right now your ACT superscore is 34!!

I really don’t know, haha! Okay, this makes me feel a lot better  I might try taking it one more time, but I think my scores are as good as they’re going to get. Thanks for your input!

To be honest with you, I wouldn’t retake it with that score. BUT you can only improve so hey go for it if you want. But if I was hitting the 2000 I wouldn’t be worried
