So the first time I took the SAT it was with no studying or anything and I got an 1820. Next time I took it I got a 1920. Third time was this November and I'm projecting around a 2050-2100. I want to take it again because now I have been averaging around 2200-2300 on blue book tests. My top school is Umich. Will it look really bad if I take it again even though I have substantially increased my score each time?

Bump…

I don’t think it’s “really” bad to take it a fourth time if you believe you’re score will most likely increase. Collegeboard gives you the option of choosing which scores to send to colleges anyway so if you like that 4th test date’s scores the best, you can choose to only send those scores.

Taking more than 3 times won’t increase is an average for test takers, so if you’re really confident in your next test, you should take it again. Plus most schools use superscores (highest from each subject) so it’s okay to take the 4th time.

Score choice isn’t a ‘saving fairy’. Colleges will still know how many time you took the test and your scores on each test.
