Should I take the SAT again?

I am freaking out. I really really want to go to Columbia (by far my number 1), but I am afraid that my SAT/ACT scores are too low (specifically my CR score).
Ive got good EC's (at least I think so), 3.9-4.0 uw gpa, but I feel iffy about my test scores.
My Scores (I sent both SAT and ACT):
SAT (one sitting)
CR: 640 M: 800 W: 700
SAT II (all in one sitting - that was grueling)
Math2: 800 Chem: 720 Physics: 710
ACT: 33 comp
34 Math, 34 Science, 33 English, 31 Reading

I am currently signed up to sit the Jan 24 SAT, but the problem is that I have semester exams around that time, so I don't know how much I am going to get to study.

I think I could raise my CR to anywhere from a 650-700, but it really depends.

Thanks in advance!

Im applying to SEAS btw

Have you already sent scores in? This is a tough situation.

I would recommend that if you wanted to feel a bit more secure, you should take the test again and try to break into the 700s. But, if you are thinking it'll fall between 650 and 700...I don't think it'll help much. At the orientation, the adcom told us that they know your test score will rise by about 50 to 100 points, so take it maybe twice, or three times...really it's your choice, no one can make that decision for you...but they also cautioned, don't just keep on taking it...then they will figure you've got nothing better to do and you're wasting a massive amount of time.

On a lighter note, you should look at the Official Class of 2013 ED Results thread...you'll get a good gauge of where the SAT scores fell, you actually might be surprised.

I, for one, this your SAT scores look fine...your math scores definitely display a strength and hopefully an interest, a thread that should thus be also reflected in your ECs...If you've got that, that drive and passion in math and science, elicited throughout your application--I mean everywhere, e.g. even favorite books, recent shows, etc...then SATs score will be secondary to the adcom...Don't stress too much! But the choice is honestly yours!

These are words from an accepted SEAS Class of 2013 applicant, so take them or leave them...once again, your choice ;)

Good luck, in any event!

no. I got into Columbia SEAS with a 2080 SAT score(CR640, W660, M780). you really don't need to retake it.

If this would be your 4th time, no.
