I am interested in applying to two Ivy League schools (Cornell and Penn) and some other well known schools. I got a 1390 (2100 cumulative) on the SAT but a 34 on the ACT. I'm just wondering if it is worth it for me to take the SAT another time and hopefully get about 100-150 points higher...how much would this help my application since I already have what would be comparable a SAT score from my ACT score when it is converted?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Try to get above the average scores for students who get into those schools. For example, here is a listing of average SAT scores of students who got into Penn: [College Search - University of Pennsylvania - Penn - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

a 34 on the ACT is a great score, so that might help make up for your “weak” SAT scores. although, a 1340/2100 is a solid score

…but a 34 is way better.

If I were you, I might even consider just sending in the ACT scores. And not the SAT scores. But I’d talk to more knowledgeable people first and get more legit opinions.

^ that actually sounds fine. but my advice is always the same: if you can do better this time around, why not?

i’d take it again.
