So, I took the PSAT in the fall and got a score that will most likely make me a NMSQT semifinalist or whatever it's called. I also took the ACT and did really well, so I will not have to take it again. Being someone who dislikes the SAT scoring format, I really don't want to take the SAT if I can avoid it, but would it be advantageous because I have to do it to advance to "finalist?" Is it okay if I take it after I get accepted into college so I don't risk having a sucky score, but get financial aid?

Since most colleges require either the SAT or ACT, you probably don’t have to take the SAT.

However, if your PSAT score is in the NMSQT semifinalist range (~210 and up) you may have to take the SAT, as well as complete the application with essays, transcripts, recommendations, etc.
