Hello cc's. I am posting this thread to ask if you guys think I should take the SAT. You're probably thinking, "of course, idiot!" OK calm down, the reason is because I already scored a 35 on the ACT, and don't really want to take the SAT. Do you guys think it would be beneficial to take it? Thanks!

It is unnecessary unless you plan to apply to a school that requires the SAT and will not accept the ACT (if any exist), however you will still need to take at least two SAT II subject tests.

Take the SAT anyway. If you do worse than a 2300, don’t bother sending it; send the ACT only. But if you do well, it’s just reaffirms that you’re a phenomenal student.

From an admissions standpoint I would take it, as long time and money isn’t an issue. From a reality standpoint, I know in high school I would have rather slept in on a Saturday. But as the above poster said, it can’t hurt.

I’ve taken the subject tests and did pretty well on them. As for the SAT 1, I’m still trying to sort out the pros and cons. I guess I might as well. Thanks for the thoughts, guys!

According to the ACT-SAT conversion chart that I looked at ( [SAT-ACT Conversion chart](http://teachers.sduhsd.k12.ca.us/tpcounseling/Web_Pages/SAT-ACT_Conversion_Chart.htm) ) a 35 on the ACT is the equivalent to a 2340 on the SAT. Would you bother to waste a Saturday morning and the $ to try to improve upon that? FWIW, when my daughter scored between 2300 and 2400 on her first try at the SAT she decided not to retake it or to take the ACT. She is currently a sophomore at Harvard.

Ahha. Good point, I guess. It’s probably a waste of time. Thanks!
