Want to go to nationally prominent schools i.e. USC, UCLA, Stanford, UPenn

Weighted GPA: 4.2
ACT: 29

Just keep those numbers in mind, no mention of essays, etc. but the next SAT is on Nov 5 I think, is it worth it to take the SAT to make up for my ACT score?

Thanks

Are you a senior? Definitely think about the SAT or even retaking ACT. A 29 will not be competitive for schools like Standford and UPenn.

Yes from Illinois, I only took the ACT once and that was when it was administered statewide Junior year. Thanks for your input I agree

Do you think I should take the SAT or SAT Subject tests? Like I said I’m from IL, and we’re generally unaware of the SAT or how it works.

Just for clarification I took the AP US + Language tests and got a 5 and 4 respectively and am taking 5 AP courses this year.

I think you should take the SAT and retake the ACT if you can. You might score higher on your SAT than ACT, or you might score higher on the ACT the second time. :)

Yes. A 29 will almost put you out of the running for Stanford unless you have an exceptional hook.

Thanks for the responses guys I signed up for it :). Now although there’s a general consensus that a 29 isn’t good enough for the highest tier i.e. Harvard/Yale/Stanford, would it be okay for Brown/Cornell/Dartmouth/Columbia? I know a 29 is the 25th percentile for those schools.

Unless you have a hook (athlete, legacy, ethnicity), you probably want a 33+ on the ACT to be competitive for any of those schools. I’m not an expert, just from what I have observed.
