I know my question sounds kind of ridiculous, but hear me out. I'm from Michigan, a state which is really focused on ACT, and my school administers a free ACT for everyone as a requirement for graduation. I'm planning to go out of state for college, but all the schools I'm looking at require either SAT or ACT, so I'm wondering whether I should even take the SAT. The reason I'm conflicted is that a) I would have to pay for the SAT myself and money is extremely tight, and b) I've tested lower on the SAT than the ACT; suffice it to say that it's just not my test. Would not submitting an SAT score hurt me more than submitting a somewhat lower SAT score?

hey flaucinauci…Its completely ok to give the ACT . You can even skip it. But it wont hurt, right, to give it a try. It might be that your SAT score would be more than the ACT. In my opinion it would be better if you give both! Now it is up to you to decide!

Not submitting an SAT score will not hurt you; the ACT is fine. If you have been performing better on the ACT practice tests than on SAT practice tests, stick with the ACT. It’s silly to waste money on a test you don’t need and think you won’t do as well on!
