I already took the SATs twice. The first time I got CR-710 M-700 W-740 (9 essay). The second time I got CR-800 M-800 W-730 (8 essay). I'm really worried about my essays because they aren't too great, and I want to apply to some Ivies. Should I try the ACT?

Is this a ****ing joke?

I don’t understand the question. If you want to improve your writing score, study that and retake it. It doesn’t matter how many times you take it. Don’t try the ACT–you already have a good score for the SAT.

2330 (or 2340 superscored) is a great score. Retaking would not be very helpful; but if you feel that improving to 780+ on Writing will be painless and very realistic, go ahead and retake if you want. I don’t see a point in taking the ACT, though: your score at the moment is equivalent to 35, so you would have to get 36 to make any difference (and even that would be minimal).

^^My question is mostly whether it is worth taking the SATs again to improve my writing score since my essay is not too great. I’m worried about how it will look if I am bad at writing.

Colleges recognize the degree of superficiality present in the review of the SAT essay, so they probably won’t care much about that essay score.

Yea, they won’t care about your essay score. Some colleges want to see your SAT essay, but, supposedly, only because they want to compare it to your college essay: some kids pay other kids to write college essays for them.

No, you’re fine, work on the rest of your college application now
