<p>I'm an international student and I was just wondering if it would be advisable to take the SAT World History subject test even if I don't take AP World History (my school offers the IB Diploma instead.) I'm taking IB Higher Level history at the moment and I got an A* for my IGCSEs in History...so if I did a lot of revsion, would it be okay?</p>

<p>I think so. I haven’t taken any AP courses, but have a strong interest in history, and I consistently scored 800s on practice tests just from that (unfortunately I couldn’t take the real test because of scheduling conflicts). The material isn’t really that hard–the only challenge is its breadth, but if you like history and revise properly, you should be fine.</p>

<p>If you have an A in an IB History class and have a good grasp of World History, then with review, you should be good. It isn’t the hardest of tests: when I got my score report, my 800 was only 95th percentile, as opposed to some tests (like Lit), where sub-800 scores are 99th percentile.</p>
<p>Focus on ancient Chinese, Mongol, ancient and modern Indian, ancient Roman, late (not necessarily modern) Latin American, colonial/revolutionary Africa, and middle ages Europe. That seems like most of what it was made up of.</p>
<p>I’m an international too and my history syllabus is different from SAT world history but I managed to do quite okay for it with self-studying. You should be fine too (:</p>
