Ello. I'm a college freshman about to finish my first semester. I didn't take a job first semester because I wanted to see how I handled everything. Now that I have finalized my second semester schedule, I made room for a job. I've been visiting the career office frequently for posting and the only one that is of actual interest to me is a librarian assistant (i'm an English Ed major) but the only open shift is from 11pm to 4 am. I'd only have to work three days a week.

I don't know. I don't like staying up so late. My classes end at noon, so i wanted a job in the afternoon. But time is running out to apply for second semester jobs.

should i take this night shift?
or just not work this semester?

P.S. i usually work during the summer at a job that pays more than a school job would. but that's only the summer.

That sounds like it would interfere with your school work and sleep schedule. If you don’t absolutely have to have a job, I’d skip that one. Keep looking for a better schedule job.

I assume that your classes are in the morning since you said they get out at noon, so I wouldn’t take it.

However, maybe they’ll let you work around your schedule? So, maybe you can do weekends or nights when you don’t have to get up early for class?

I don’t think you should make it hard on yourself just for a job. Do you need the money? Or can you wait it out till summer? Or get an off-campus job with better hours? Or babysit or something?

If you’re not pressed for money, then I wouldn’t do it, especially if most of your classes are morning classes and you aren’t normally a night person. It’ll be rough on your schedule, and if you’re able to hold out for something that works better for your schedule, then I’d recommend you keep looking.
