I will say it again. Life is not just. If this is the school you really want to go to, why the heck not. I mean, you are surely not the first person to do this.

Hmm ... I don't know if I'd go this route .. even if I was immoral.

Terrybhs - it certainly is your choice and given your own posts I won't add my thoughts about wether this is right or wrong. I'll come at from strictly a tranactional view. I believe unfairly taking advantage of people or situations has an amazing way of becoming visible and coming back to haunt people. Could you manupulate this coach to get into your school? Sure ... and maybe it will get you over the hump to get into this school. You are then a member of this school's commuity ... the same community of which the coach is a member. Are you ever planning on applying for anything on campus? ... to be a resident advisor, to get a scholarship, for a research position, etc ... do you believe there is no chance the story of your standing up the team/scholarship will not be shared across the campus? Do you think this story is going to put you in good standing in your new community?

An interesting final irony would be something like ... your going to professor "Smith" for a recommendation as you're going for a job post graduation and, unkown to you, Professor "Smith" jogs every morning with Coach "Jones" (or plays chess ... or is on a committee ... or lives near him .. or etc) ... I wonder what story might wander into your recommendations from Professor "Smith"?
