Should I tell them I'm Asian?

On the common app it says "If you wish to be identified with a particular ethnic group, please check all that apply"

I am Asian, and I love being Asian. But on college admissions, we all know that it isn't very helpful. But i am worried that if i do not put anything they will see my asian sounding name and throw me in the asian pile.

Will they do that if I do not check the little box?

if you're proud of being asian then do it(you better be)! Lol, but yeah i had the same issue. I decided to check it since im proud of it also. If they don't accept me just cuz im asian then i don't need to go to that school. Besides, im sure if ur good the whole being asian part isn't gonna be that bad. But it's up to u!

Just do it, they probaly will know your asian with your last name...

Alright, follow up question: If your white would not checking a box hurt/hender your chances.

if you dont answer it, it can be pretty much be presumed that you are white or asian (overrepresented groups)

I don't see why not? Sooner or later, they'll find out.

If you're Asian, and proud of it, then there should be no hesitation.

If you don't want to, don't bother. I give mad propz to all those who fight the racist affirmative action system.
