Should I transfer? and if so, where?

Hi,

I'm considering transferring from a small liberal arts university in Louisville, KY to somewhere else. Additionally, the social life here doesn't seem to have a good fit for me - 90% or more of students smoke, and 99% drink regularly. The drinking I get, but maybe it's just a cultural thing, but I really can't stand people smoking all over campus.

Basically, I'd like to go to a college/university that's more challenging academically as well as has a more diverse social life. However, at the same time, it'd be a whole lot easier just to stay and bear with it... I'm conflicted about what to do. One of the problems is that ideally I would like to major in Chinese if I were to transfer, but very few schools offer that and don't cost a fortune.

What I'm looking for:
College GPA- not sure yet, I'm guessing at least 3.5, as high as a 4.0
Entering as- Sophomore
Major- Spanish (and/or Chinese)
Area- Midwest, South, and Washington D.C./Maryland/Virginia area
Size- I don't care really, but small class sizes would be nice

Why I'm not sure if I should transfer at all:
- I'm already 'settled' here
- the Spanish class I have right now is excellent
- I don't know how well my credits will transfer (this is really the main issue, probably)

Why I'm thinking I should transfer:
- I feel like I'm not learning anything, and possibly actually forgetting in some of my classes
- I'm taking 19 credit hours and it feels like a breeze...which doesn't seem right
- the social life isn't exactly stunning... 99% of people drink (which I understand...this si college) but something like 95% of people here smoke, which I really just find disgusting, to be completely honest

Any suggestions or input? Any opinions would be much appreciated! :)

Georgetown?

I am almost in the same situation as you, and I am planning on transferring as a sophomore (hopefully to Georgetown). I don’t know if they have Chinese but I’m 99% sure they offer Spanish as a major.
If you do not like your current school i would suggest transferring. It will require from you to put extra effort to raise your grades and get a better GPA, but eventually it will be worth it if you end up at the school of your choice that fits you.
There is no reason to “suck it up” and stay there, don’t waste your time if you feel like you don’t fit in academically, and especially socially. This is supposed to be the best years of your life (I know, clich
