Hey,
I am currently a freshman biology major at stony brook university thinking about transferring to cornell. For the first semester, I have a 4.0 GPA (Calculus I, Chemistry and economics and intermediate writing.) Hope I can maintain that GPA next semester too. I applied to cornell in the HS senior year but was unfortunately rejected.
My SAT was 1970, 590 Verbal,760 Math and 620 Writing. My HS GPA was about 90 but i was from a competitive high school (bronx science).
I was thinking about transferring to cornell or other better colleges but not sure when to transfer. Any suggestions?

Probably most people who try to transfer to a school where they didn't gain acceptance as a freshman are disappointed twice. But not all! There is no reason you should not try for it.

You did so well in your first term; that will certainly be a plus factor. You will need great recs, really good essays and, probably, some luck. Do you think you can get the verbal SAT up if you were to re-take? I never like recommending more standardized tests, but if Cornell will look at a post-college SAT and you think you can improve, it might increase your chances.
