I’m about to attend molloy college, majoring in nursing. A quick look at my past posts will tell you nursing absolutely was not my first choice of major. My parents pushed me to it and now blame each other when I tell them that.
Anyways just thinking about bedside nursing (which is required if you want to move into a masters degree phase in your career) gives me anxiety and I know I can’t do it. I have hyperhidrosis in my hands which means they sweat a lot so it’s gonna be really hard to touch people and nursing is 99% touching people.
I want to change my major to accounting or computer science and molloy offers both but (correct me if I am wrong) these programs aren’t as reputable compared to Hofstra.
First of all my parents will flip out but I’m willing to chance it. Should I do it? Are there jobs for new grads in these fields in NY? My parents don’t think so. Truthfully I’m terrified about what’ll happen if I do transfer and end up doing badly in all my classes and regretting it all. I have never done much coding beyond some beginner level code academy stuff (I got bored and quit but boring is better than depressing &anxiety which is how nursing makes me feel) and I have only a rudimentary idea about what accounting entails but I’m sure I can learn. I got into Hofstra for accounting and got their second highest scholarship but I stupidly chose to listen to my parents fearmongering about not finding a job.
Actuarial science also sounds cool but there are so many tests to get certification and I’m afraid I’ll fail. Yeah I know, I’m afraid of a lot. :(( please help me
