thanks jdavid your advice is very helpful! but my problem is that i still didn’t get a response from rutgers which means i have to pay nyu so i won’t be left with nothing. i would definitely chose rutgers though if i get in for fall 2009 and if nyu would be willing to refund my money once i do. till then still waiting :-(

You’re better off attempting a transfer to Columbia, where they’d be more generous with aid.

ehh not columbia…i probably won’t qualify for financial aid anyways

and i got into rutgers but now i’m even more confused. my parents tell me i should stay at nyu but that ultimately it;s my decision. theyr mainly worried that my chances of getting into medical school would be higher from nyu than rutgers. any advice/help??

it’s not worth going to NYU if you’re going to medical school. you’ll leave NYU with a significant amnt of debt. medical school is EXPENSIVE (no financial aid there!) and you will be very, very, very poor during residency.

it really won’t impact your chances much.

my dad is a prof at school of medicine and he agrees with me. NYU undergrad does not feed into NYU SOM at all.

What would you major in at Rutgers

thanks missamericanpie, it really helps to hear that

rutgers2013- i’ll probably major in chem or biochem in rutgers

My feeling is, as long as you have a great GPA and are involved with medical research/volunteering, it really doesn’t matter too much where you go undergrad.

If it makes you feel better, I found a link for the Medical School Applicants Statistics for RU Class of 2007:

You may also want to contact one of the premed advisors at Rutgers, as I’m sure they can clear up any questions or concerns. Good luck, and hope to see you at Rutgers!
