I had around a 3.9 weighted GPA in hs, took every AP except 1, and scored a 30 on the ACT. However, I was waitlisted or rejected at most of the schools I applied to like UNC Chapel Hill and Uchicago, and couldn’t afford to go to UIUC, which was my top pick out of all my safety schools. I’m currently attending one of the smaller UNC system schools due to the lower tuition, but I really don’t want to stay here past my freshman year because they don’t have a lot of the programs I’m interested in and the school is extremely small. I’ve been trying to get a job for over a month with no dice, because the city here is overcrowded and there’s not enough employment opportunities for students.
I have a lot more connections in South Carolina and would be able to live with my partner, so I feel like Clemson would be a better environment for me, as I’m not really meshing well and fitting in at my current school. However, I have autism and I’m transgender, so I don’t know if I will be very accepted at Clemson in terms of the student population, but there are so many good opportunities there!
I’m from NC so I can’t really qualify for many merit scholarships, but will I still get reasonable financial aid? I’m also in Honors college here and I’m a very motivated and hardworking student, so does anyone think Clemson’s honors program would be a good fit for me, is it worth it to at least apply for it?
