Should I transfer? If so, which semester should I transfer and how should I go about it?

Hey, I am currently a Business Undeclared student at the University of Delaware who is strongly considering transferring to NYU or an institution with similar programs (majors). I am intensely passionate about music and plan on applying as a transfer student to Tisch for the Clive School of Recorded Music. My school does not have the major I am looking for, even remotely, and that worries me. Also, I love everything about NYC and NYU, so it seems like I should most definitely transfer. However, there are a few problems I am facing. First, NYU is obviously incredibly expensive, do they offer lots of grant money direct and through financial aid? My financial aid package worked out wonderfully at UD, but I don’t know that it will be similar for NYU. Other than Clive, I am considering applying for the Spring semester as a student in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. I could likely create an entrepreneurial-minded music major within Gallatin, which would also allow me to get to NYU as soon as possible, which, in my case, would be best for social and academic reasons considering I am a Freshman. If anyone could provide me with some insight, I would greatly appreciate any help at all. Thanks a ton.

NYU is famously stingy with financial aid for incoming first year students, and (like most schools) aid for transfers is a LOT less.

Go run the Net Price Calculator on their website and see what it looks like.

Also, if you are at UDe b/c you didn’t get into NYU on the first try, be aware that unless something startling has happened between then & now, you are unlikely to get in on a second try.
