SHould I transfer out of TUFTS?

I was wondering if I should transfer from Tufts. I really like it..but the sciences are really hard here and its not what I thought it was going to be. I have always wanted to go to Brown, Cornell, or Georgetown. I didnt even apply to these colleges in highschool. I am pre-med, just finished my freshman year.I am going to be an RA this year at TUFTS and was wondering if I should try to transfer out of Tufts, or should I just stick it out, be an RA, double major, then try to go to Med school from TUFTS.

Please help me. Thanks. I am African-American/Native American and went to a very prestigious catholic private school for highschool.

If you find the sciences hard at Tufts, then you are going to be surprised that they are just as hard at Brown, Cornell, or Georgetown. Honestly, there is really no easy way out, especially when it comes to pre-med.

But if you still really want to transfer out, by all means go ahead.

I can't believe the admissions process by itself didn't shake this naivete out of you. I mean, you're older than me...

Sciences are hard at every college -- including 3rd tier ones -- because science is (surprise!) hard.

The universities that you are longing for would be just as hard as Tufts.

If you're struggling with sciences, get tutoring and don't double major.

Stick with Tufts unless you can get a guaranteed admit to medical school elsewhere.

well i am taking chemistry at my state university for the summer and it is MUCHHHH easier than at Tufts. I am not crying about the sciences, they are not overwhelmingly hard, I mean that was just a statement that Tufts is known to have grade deflation, whereas at other schools there is grade inflation.

But medical schools know about how Tufts grades. There's a good chance that you're also learning more at Tufts, and that learning will be reflected on your MCATs.
Friend of mine who had some Cs at Harvard and went to Columbia for medical school ended up being one of the top students in her med school class.

Chemistry may be easier at your state university, but I'm doubtful that sciences will be easier at Brown, Cornell, or Georgetown. I agree with Northstarmom that med school admissions know what they're doing when it comes to comparing undergraduate grades.

And the MCAT is a barrier to entry to medical school. It's possible to get an accredited degree in a science major without being well prepared for the MCAT, so be thankful you have hard science classes that stretch your abilities.

I doubt sciences are going to be any easier at top schools like Brown, Cornell, or Georgetown...

Agree with other posters that coursework is not going to be any easier at B, C or G than at T.

If you find the sciences to be that difficult, maybe you are in the wrong major. Try exploring other courses and switching majors

i am not majoring in science...i am just pre-med, which means I take the specific science courses. Being Pre-med does not mean that I am majoring in a science.

The best paid doctors are the most well-published doctors. The hard science classes will pay off. :)

Cornell's is definately not easier, and is probably harder than Tufts... It's a very rigorous schoolin science. Georgetown is not easier because it's orgo courses are some of the hardest in the nation (according to the CC Gtown forum)... I'm exactly sure about brown, but it would be easier IMO...

If I didn't know better, I'd think this was a troll post because that's exactly what a stereotypical Tufts student would say...

I guess you've never heard about Harvard's notorious grade inflation or the fact that the vast majority of their students graduate with honors?

Harvard has grade inflation? Wha?
