Hey everyone, so I am currently a freshman at Northeastern in Boston. It wasn't my top choice, but I was left to choosing between John Cabot in Rome and this college, and I chose Northeastern. This is mainly because I wasn't sure about the reputation of John Cabot and John Cabot did not offer a program in health sciences, which I planned on studying in Northeastern. Plus the scholarship to Northeastern was pretty amazing (I'm a National Merit Scholar).

However, I changed my major to International Affairs almost immediately, and I realized that a lot of the "international opportunities" offered by my school are incredibly expensive. Almost everyone goes on this "dialogue" to a foreign country in the summer, but my family can't afford it - even with the scholarship. In addition, my parents are not happy with the fact that I will graduate in 5 years and are trying to rush me to graduate in 4 (which, in all honesty, isn't the easiest thing to do at this school)

In the long run, I want to go to graduate school in Europe and work for a international company based in Europe (e.g. United Nations, FAO, etc.) and I'm not sure how easy that will be if I go to college in the US, you know?

This is why I'm considering transferring to college in Italy. Specifically, I am curious about John Cabot. I have seen that graduates go to schools such as Oxford, UCL, etc. so it must not be bad - anyone have any personal experiences relating to this school? I would transfer into the international affairs program.

Plus, I have Italian heritage and reaching complete fluency in Italian is extremely important to me.

In addition, some things to know:

I speak Italian and Spanish near fluency

If I lived in Italy for 3 years, I could become a citizen (Becoming a citizen would not be easy if I stayed in the US)

I have lots of family in Italy (yet my parents live in Hawaii)

I plan on going to graduate school and getting a job in Europe

So yeah, any advice? Would I be making a huge mistake? Do you think I am seriously "downgrading" my education? I need all of the help I can get. Plus the only other issue is that I'm taking Arabic and I would have to discontinue this considering there is no Arabic program in John Cabot... Thanks so much!
