GPA is the biggest single factor in transfer admissions. Get it as high as you can.
Why aren’t you considering UCs? They may be a better value.

I am more interested in Chicago, DC, New York, and Boston.

Does anyone have any schools to suggest in these cities?

Look at DePaul in Chicago. It’s in Lincoln Park, which is just a short train ride away from downtown. I visited the school a couple of years ago and loved it.

Well Lincoln Park is a nicer area and DT but for what she is talking about doing sounds like U of C is a closer match.

I’ve lived in Cambridge-Boston and NYC and upstate. Cornell and Syracuse are great for English but deff not urban. For urban Boston metropolitan and English departments—> MIT (great Cambridge bay location) and BC (great commonwealth ave location) are the best. BU is great too and of course Harvard (prime central Cambridge location) and Tufts (Medford/Somerville but near Cambridge location).

I actually applied to and was accepted to BU, maybe I should have gone there. I guess other areas would be NYC, DC, LA

You should contact them and see if that offer is still available and tell them why if need be. If you want urban BU is in a busy and lively area right over the BU Bridge across the Charles from where MIT is. Kenmore Square area is really nice and pretty cool plus has got lots of dorms and apartments for students. If I lived x the river I’d personally prefer Alston since is cheaper and grittier with lots of house parties but that is b/c am familiar with the area and vibe. Thru Brookline down the Commonwealth Ave are also Green Line trolleys to DT Boston and just a short bus away to the Redline up to Central, Davis, Harvard and Porter Squares.
Realize BU is one of the largest schools for students(that very much cater to undergrads!), housing and private research institutions and employers in the county! I heard they have a great meal plan too. I love NYC (no flame wars) but think that area is generally better for serious students who like to work and play hard.
BU ranks above Purdue for English but not U of C in grad rankings. Although for jobs, future employment potential, quality of education along with quality of neighborhood, nightlife, convenience, and for more urban feel close to everything a city has to offer, BU has UC beat.
