Should I transfer to Baruch?

I currently go to SUNY Geneseo as a 2nd year Accounting major. I'm currently having doubts about my major and if I were to switch my major, the only other business major they offer in my school is Business Administration. Over my past 1 and a half years at Geneseo, I've realized that post-graduate careers are really limited to the Western New York area. I've been thinking about whether I should transfer out to Baruch because it is a better business school and would be much more affordable as I commute from home and would give me better networking and job opportunities. However, Geneseo does still retain the better "name" and there is a good chance I might have to graduate a semester or two late if I transferred out.

What do you guys think? Should I stay here or transfer out?

Bump me a response please !

While you might think that SUNY Geneseo has a better “name” it doesn’t. Yes, it is higher ranked, but that just means that on a national scale it is marginally more well-known. Unfortunately if you are slightly more well known than unknown, it doesn’t really help much.

Baruch is well-known in the NYC area and will provide you with a MODEST around of networking opportunities. Unfortunately, Baruch suffers from being extremely depressing and was ranked the #10 college in America with the most unhappiest students. I don’t think it’s worth transferring to Baruch even if it will provide you with a BIT more opportunities simply because it is so miserable going to college here. I would advocate transferring to SUNY Bing SOM or go out-of-state (unless your grades are fantastic/you can afford to pay $50k+ a year, in which case NYU will provide you with tons of networking opportunities, while Columbia is ivy-league).

It is cheap and IMO, easier than high school academically. If you are doing well in Geneseo, you shouldn’t have a problem here at Baruch and getting a job at the big 4
