Should I transfer?

I am a third year student at ECU and I was wondering if I should transfer to this school just for the sake of prestige? I am a business major with a 3.43 GPA. Prestige has personally been worrying me for a couple of years now. The thing that kinda worries me about this school too is that it's much farther away and tuition is slightly higher.

I just want to know if it's worth it. I feel like such a failure.

Since you’re currently a 3rd yr student, you will be applying to transfer for just sr year. Many schools will not accept sr transfers, so you first need to check the websites of the schools you’re interested in.

If you’re successfully completing a degree, you’re definitely not a failure!

You shouldn’t feel like a failure. Do you plan on getting a Master’s degree as well? If so, you will need a decent GPA to get into grad school, but other than that, your undergraduate GPA will not have much influence once you graduate.

Your GPA is not horrible. I would not transfer for the sake of prestige. Work on bringing your GPA up at your current school, and you will be a more competitive applicant for grad school and the work force.

Perhaps sometime in the future but not immediately after graduation.

Prestige has been a huge worry for me for a few years now, but is it worth it? When or when isn’t it?

Finish up your degree where you are. “Prestige” is only a factor for helping you get your first job. After that, your career progress will be almost entirely up to your own hard work.

If you are considering doing an MBA eventually, your work experience will be much more important than the name of the university that you graduated from.
