I have been accepted to Tufts University as a transfer. I am on a pre-med track and attended my first year of college at a regionally ranked university. After my first year I have a 4.0 gpa. Can I still get into a top 20 medical school from a regionally ranked four year university if my GPA/MCAT/ECs are up to par? My goal is to attend a top ranked medical school and was wondering whether attending a top ranked undergrad like Tufts would help me achieve my goal.
What State are you a resident of? Most medical students end up at their local medical schools due to residency preferences at many state universities. Tufts is a good premed school but it is no guarantee to a medical school entry unless you do quite well among a competitive field of fellow students.
In addition to the points raised by @texaspg, will transferring cause you to take on additional debt?
Because of the enormous costs of medical school, pre-meds are advised to minimize their undergrad educational debt.
