I am currently attending a school about 30 minutes from my home, and I have been thinking lately about transferring to a bigger school that is about 3 hours away, but still in state. However, if I transfer, I would be giving up a big scholarship. Should I transfer to the bigger and more prestigious school? Or stay where I am and keep the money? I'm planning on majoring in education. I always wanted to go to a big school and I feel like I would be happier there, but is it worth it to give up my scholarship for the "college experience" that I'm looking for?

What do your parents say? I am assuming they would be involved in the payment for the bigger school. Are you happy at your current school? Have you visited the big school and do you know others that go there? I am assuming that both schools meet your needs as far as your major goes.

My parents want me close to home, but they would support my decision if I chose to transfer. I have visited the other school and I really like it and I know a lot of people there as well. I don't absolutely hate the school I'm at now, but I feel like I could be a lot happier elsewhere. And yes, both schools offer my major.

Any other thoughts?

How much more would it cost? How difficult would it be for your parents to bear that cost? What would it take for you to find ways to be happier where you are?

How much more prestigious and why would that matter?

Lots of questions before we could even try to give opinions.
