should i transfer?

I am currently in first year at a pretty good university. Since my school is so close, I live at home and my tuition is paid for by my parents. The problem is, my school doesn't offer the major that I am most interested in. And on top of that I haven't really been happy at my current school.

I've been thinking about transferring to another school that does offer my major and also where a lot of my friends go. I feel I would be much happier at this new school. This would mean living on campus and needing student loans, bursaries, etc to pay for the extra dorming costs.

Should I transfer? Are the money worries worth it?

You’re still a freshmen. I suggest staying for a year and finding out what you’re most passionate about since majors usually share the same classes for the first year. If you are not pleased by the end of winter/middle of spring (before March), then apply for transfer.

Well, if you don’t like your current college and it doesn’t have your major, those are 2 big problems. Ultimately, the whole point of college is to get an education and earn a degree, and if they don’t have your major, what are you going to do, become a dentist because they don’t have what you want? or maybe you can create your own program based on a pre-existing major - I know some colleges have that.

consider transferring to another school where money would not be an issue - maybe a state/public college nearby? there are probably multiple schools that would make you happy.
