Should I transfer

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the Engineering Program at Purdue. I applied earlier this year to UIUC to see if I could get in their engineering program. I did. Now I am thinking maybe I should transfer.

U of I is in-state for me and with the addition of college illinois paying my tuition, it's practically free for me. Although, I am not paying for tuition, my mom is. Also, my mom said with the saved money, she would buy me a new car if I transfered to UIUC. My mother also said the tuition at Purdue isn't a problem (15 grand /year) so she said don't transfer for money reasons.

But, I really want a new car. Plus, I know that UIUC is a bit more fun than Purdue.

I have 5 really good friends here at Purdue, and I would transfer if it weren't for them. I am afraid that I won't find my niche at UIUC and I won't find friends quite like them.

My friend from high school here at Purdue got into UIUC and he is definitely transfering. If I transfer with him, we are going to get an apartment at UIUC together.

Essentially, to kind of over-simplify it, it comes down to (Purdue) Friends vs. (UIUC) New Car + More fun

What should I do? Transfer or no transfer?

possibly one of biggest decisions of my life bump

seems like you really wanna go to UIUC.
if you can still maintain a great GPA while having “more fun” than I think you should go for it.
it’s in-state so wouldn’t you be able to see a lot of your old HS friends?

I am dying to get into UIUC.

Compare the opportunity cost of both decisions and make the choice that you believe best fits you.
